3D printing
3D Printing. Something that sounds ultimately futuristic, and is some way, scary. Well, believe it or not, this is a thing of the present and is already being used for daily purposes. So, what is 3D printing? 3D Printing is a modern printer that can create various programmable objects (even food) to repairing something. Usually a 3D printer uses either some type of easy-to-mold plastic or titanium. it melts down the material then orderly, it prints out the desired object from a moving arm. We used the 3D printer in class to create our original designs made on tinkercad. The personal one that I made was a futuristic E-bike lock. I intended that these would help all of those cyclists who had their own bike stolen off of them.
My opinion on 3D printers
I think that 3D printers are absolutely awesome! It is already cool enough to watch it print, then when the full product is finished, it is mind-blowing!
Laser Cutting
Laser cutters. Another 'futuristic invention' that has been brought to the present (no, not from a time traveler). It works as an electrical saw-like cutter that uses beams of lasers to cut through materials. This machine can cut through practically any acrylic plastics or wood. Laser cutters are beneficial in that they can be used to cut more accurate designs and more complex designs than would otherwise be hand-cut. In our Digital Technologies class, we used laser cutters to make out our own ideas off images we found on the world wide web. These creations varied from rubber band guns to name plaques.
My opinion on Laser cutters
I think that laser cutters are also an amazing invention. I can definitely see it being helpful in the future of furniture and decoration designs.
